Meltdown

You are in control of the structure of a nuclear reactor core - balance power generation with heat output to win five difficulty levels. Inspired by the reactors from the Minecraft mod IndustrialCraft2.

Parts

A nuclear reactor is complicated! Experiment with the different parts and learn how they interact-

  • Fuel Rod: The source of all power (and heat). They heat up all viable adjacent components - if none exist, it all goes into the core.
  • Heat Vents: Ejects heat harmlessly, but must be provided heat from elsewhere.
  • Heat Exchanger: Balances heat between itself, adjacent components, and the core to keep heat levels equal.
  • Neutron Deflectors: Boost adjacent fuel rods - they neither generate nor absorb heat themselves.
Every part has its use

Always Rising

Each fuel rod generates a static power level, but heat builds up constantly. Some parts can hold heat temporarily, but will break if overloaded. Be careful!

If heat ever maxes out, its game over!

Credits

All coding and almost all visual assets were made by me, but certain parts of this game were only possible thanks to assets used by various individuals:

Game SFX - Kronbits (https://kronbits.itch.io/freesfx)

Background Music - Tallbeard (https://tallbeard.itch.io/music-loop-bundle)

Explosion VFX - Luis Zuno (https://ansimuz.itch.io/explosion-animations-pack)

And finally, the concept and mechanics are all originally inspired by the reactor from the wonderful Minecraft mod IndustrialCraft2, developed by many people over the years (https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/industrial-craft).
